Horseback Riding in the Central Sierra Nevada | ||
Taking the family, friends or that someone special for a Sierra horseback ride can be the experience of a lifetime. The Shaver Basin is situated halfway between Yosemite and Kings Canyon National Parks and features trails with an elevation range from 5,000 feet to 10,000 feet and includes several businesses that can take you out on the trail. There is a list below for your convenience. This outdoor recreational paradise is filled with a variety of trailheads that lead to a pristine wilderness. There are over 200 lakes, the San Joaquin River and many large creeks waiting to be explored. So plan to get away for awhile. Find an outfit and enjoy a ride. You can take a one or two hour ride if you are new to horseback riding. If not, perhaps a half day of riding or even a full day would suit your fancy. When you're ready for a little adventure, let one of the outfitters lead you into the rugged beauty of the Sierra Nevada backcountry. The Ansel Adams, John Muir, Kaiser and Dinkey Lakes Wilderness are among the terrain that you may travel through or on into Kings Canyon National Park. So take a day and enjoy a scenic ride. It will be one of those experiences that you will never forget If possible, call and make an appointment. Please be sure to arrive 15 minutes before ride time. |
